A Special Message from the CEO of Every Texan

It's been about two weeks since I started one of the best jobs in the state as CEO of Every Texan. I've been busy getting up to speed and spending time with the fabulous staff and board of this powerhouse social justice organization.

I am honored to join this team, an organization that embodies my own core values of social justice and equity, inside and out. As we have seen in this brutal legislative session, Texas still has a long way to go when it comes to ensuring opportunity for everyone, and some days it even seems like we’re moving backwards.

Our work is not possible without community partners like you as we look towards a future where Texans of all backgrounds can contribute to and share in the prosperity of our great state. Bit by bit, I am meeting with partners, lawmakers, donors and friends to hear their ideas for how to make Every Texan the most effective and equitable organization possible. If you haven't heard from me yet, don't worry — there are so many people to meet!

Look for some opportunities to attend virtual events — and hopefully in-person events soon — to hear more about my vision and so I can learn what matters to you.

Right now, our phenomenal staff is working late nights advocating at the Texas Capitol in what has been an unprecedented legislative session. I admire this dedicated team for all their data-driven expertise and their commitment to equity and inclusion, and to each other. Our Legislative & Policy Director, Luis Figueroa, has boldly steered our legislative work this session amid COVID restrictions and logistical challenges.

Together, we will build a Texas that works for people from all backgrounds. I am excited to be here, and I look forward to achieving great things together.
