After an extensive national search, Marisa rose to the top because of her exemplary track record championing social justice issues, her collaborative leadership style, and her authentic approach to building coalitions across the state to inspire Texans to join us in forging a more equitable and just future. We are nearing the one-year anniversary since we changed our name and brand to better reflect our social justice vision and values for Texas. We are confident that Marisa will pursue that bold vision fearlessly as an advocate for every Texan with deep policy experience and a strong commitment to creating a state where people of all backgrounds will prosper. Following Ann Beeson, who stepped down in October 2020 after seven years as CEO, Kathy Miller served as interim CEO, supporting Every Texan's policy and advocacy experts while the organization successfully completed the national search. Beginning in May, Marisa will continue and expand Every Texan’s work researching and advocating for social justice and building coalitions across the state to expand equitable opportunities for all Texans.
