State Representatives Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico will join Every Texan’s CEO, Marisa Bono, for a robust conversation on the public policies that will most improve the lives of everyday Texans. Unfortunately, the 87th legislature did not prioritize people in their policy making –– affordable health care access, voter rights, well-funded public and higher education, dignified jobs, and the right to local control are just some of the issues Texans most want our state government to prioritize. Join us for a people-centered discussion on the critical policies Texas must adopt in order to ensure a state where every Texan can thrive.
Mr. Walker has taken exemplary steps to strengthen the philanthropic sector’s response to rising inequality and systemic injustice in Texas, the United States, and worldwide. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ford Foundation took a historic and unprecedented step to increase philanthropic giving through the sale of social bonds, which served to stabilize and strengthen nonprofit organizations in the wake of the global crisis.
“Darren and the Ford Foundation are instrumental partners in advancing opportunity and equity in Texas,” commended Marisa Bono, CEO for Every Texan. “We are grateful for Darren’s bold vision in reimagining the philanthropic sector and setting a new bar for foundations’ capacity to create lasting, systemic change in our communities.”
We presented Mr. Walker with the 2021 Legacy Award during a virtual ceremony, featuring Sec. Henry Cisneros, on September 20, 2021. Watch here!
